STTARS Round 1
March 28, 2010
Round one of the STTARS supermoto series was held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana California. Dustin
successfully began his quest to defend he three championships from 2009. For 2010 Dustin will be competing aboard
his 2009 CRF-450R and CRF-250R from last season.
Practice started off well with Dustin setting the fastest times of the day as well as completing a difficult triple in the
dirt section that no other competitor was able to complete. Sunday morning warm up was also a success with Hoffman
lapping the California Speedway circuit aboard his lites bike at a faster pace then any other competitor of any class.
The first qualifying heat, the 250 class, saw Dustin starting on the third row of the grid. He would not stay there long.
Hoffman patiently worked his way up the pack eventually passing for the lead with just a few corners to spare. Dustin
went on to win his other two classes, Unlimited, and 450.
The main events started much the way the heats left off. Dustin easily took the 250 win. Next up was the Unlimited
class but unfortunately the results were not the same. While leading comfortably Hoffman clipped some temporary
curbing with his foot peg and went down. He remounted quickly but was only able to make his way back to third.
The final main of the day saw Dustin get back on track, taking the win in the 450 class.
From Dustin, “Im pretty happy with how the day went. Other then one small error, everything was good considering
I had not ridden a supermoto bike in three and a half months until Wednesday before the race. The wrist I broke in
December is all healed up but it pretty sore. I’m looking to improve the strength in my wrist over the next two weeks
and put in a strong performance at the Stateline event.”
